Highfield River Retreat is set amongst mature Totara trees on the banks of the river running through Highfield Farm. It's the second luxury campsite on Highfield Farm, after Highfield Forest Retreat - Highfield's first, highly successful luxury forest camp. The property is an easy weekend commute from Auckland - 25 minutes from the Northland town of Dargaville and 2.5 hours from Auckland city.

Lumsden Freedom Camping
Awesome freedom camp for self contained and non self contained vehicles just no tents allowed. Clean toilets plenty of rubbish bins and a wash station for your dishes. Kids park history of the trains for the kids to play on. One of the best freedom camps.

Super convenient stop over before tackling Hump Ridge Track! Clean & spacious, lovely big communal kitchen & eating area. Great place to sort our packs before hiking.

Very nice campsite. Park-like with big trees. Great facilities. Because I didnt book there was no-one in reception but there was a number to ring and everything was arranged over the phone.

Famer Jagger is a kind, friendly man. Love this place he has created with a stunning beach a short distance from the camp. I recommend preferably quieter times (not public holiday w/ends)

Balmoral Recreation Reserve Camping Ground
Great place to camp, close yet far away from home to get off grid. Well maintained, clean drinking water and basic toilet facilities, not to mention being able to use the fire places outside the fire ban season with access to more wood if needed . We love that we can bring our dog with us who just loves it. Who wouldn't for $5 per person per night and very friendly committee members. It's just bliss and our regular camping spot

Great place for dogs to swim. Water was lovely, cool and clear. Excellent spots on the riverbank with shade for picnics. Good camping facilities. Water quality well signposted and and listed on LAWA website. Will visit again.

Franz Josef Top 10 Holiday Park
Had a wonderful stay.The new owners, Tracy and Mark are very friendly and are making great in roads into updating the park. Nothing was too much for them, even providing their own TV when ours didn't work.Would definitely stay again.

Orua Bay Beach Motor Camp
Tranquility, quite. Clean rooms. Awesome new hosts Dave and Traci. Well looked after. Fantastic experience and the view from the door step onto the beach magnificent. Definitely going back.
