Great studying environment and the atmosphere on orientation day was awesome. A warm welcome back to formal study for me after an absence of 30 years.

BTI - Bethlehem Tertiary Institute
Absolutely poor expereince.I'm not the sort to normally leave a negative review, but to say I have been left disappointed by my entire expereince is an understatement.I'm in my mid 20's and have been working fulltime since leaving school.I finally decided to pursue my degree in teaching, wanting to tick something off the bucket list and made a real difference to the next generation.Having heard wonderful things about BTI, and despite the fact I'm not Christian- I applied to attend so I can gain new perspective on life and learn about good values etc.The whole expereince has been ...underwhelming to say the least.I was told in my interview that I would be seen an an outsider (being non-Christian and a distance student) - who the heck says that to someone? Why advertise that? Why instill that sort of negativity? I was under the impression that part of being someone of good, Christian faith, is being accepting of everyone? At least - that's what they teach. But they certainly dont lead by example that's for sure or put these new learnt values to use. From there things got worse. My first classes were all rather exciting (as they always are in the beginning) but that soon came to a halt. There is little support for distance students - especially if you're not Christian. If you're not a Christian- don't even bother applying to attend. You will be treated like garbage by other students and staff alike.I had to chase after my results for one of my first assessments - everyone received their results and I was forgotten. It took almost 2 months to receive my results back in which I had to chase for them.Poor.Emails to tutors with questions would go unanswered until it was too late yet I would hear from other students how quickly their emails were answered....Sent my study link paperwork to be sorted and signed off - despite chasing and following up, it never even made it to studylink. This process alone took months only to find out nothing had been done.Students ignored me because I'm not Christian. All of this led me to withdraw from the course. It doesn't stop there.Even withdrawing from the course has been a joke.I sent off my withdrawal from course 5 months ago and have only finally had an email now without so much as an apology for the delay - AND saying I need to pay for a semester I didnt even attend.Communication overall was incredibly poor and the whole expereince an absolute joke. The staff really could take a thing or 2 from what it is they are teaching. For people of Christian faith and values - I saw little of this.I was incredibly respectful of the fact I was attending a Christian school - I took everything as learning and as new perspective and was treated poorly in exchange by staff and students alike. So - unless you're Christian- do yourself a favour and just stick to a normal university. You'll only disappoint yourself otherwise. Clear favouritism is incredibly obvious. It was like something out of a movie - and not a good one.A huge shame BTI - clearly your Christian 'values' need a serious overhaul. A bit scary considering these students are who will be teaching our future generation...

My stomping grounds for 2 years. Love this place to bits!Pro tip: If you're here for a visit, go to the Quads and the Clock Tower during semester breaks, it won't be crowded. Early morning or late afternoon would be the best time to visit and take pictures.
