Great place for the elderly people.

Just walking inside gives an overwhelming feeling of joy and comfort. Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Always taking the extra mile to do all they can for the residents. They fully encourage all members of the rest home to take part in group activities. Seeing the elderly have so much fun even in their conditions brings a smile to the face. Meals served look delicious. The environment is tidy, clean, and equipment is neatly stored. All members are treated and cared for with upmost respect. Very family orientated and gives a feeling of home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for aged care.

This is one of the most disgusting places I have been to. It is like something out of a Dickens novel. The place and the patients stink and the furniture is dirty and old and what cushions they have are full of holes. My Mum was put in there a year ago and I get so upset when I think of where she is when there are other options. It is being run by a manager who obviously doesn't give a toss and has small town mentality. Do not put your most precious old people in this home

Found a career on second floor at 3pm lying down on the patient lounge couch chatting on her phone. Lovely.! Even if your shift finishes in 1/2 he you could be doing a residence nails or chatting to them. Shame on you.2 days on what an amazing response from Awatere manager Cushla. Severerly understaffed, the place is neglected and so are the residents.. they sit in soiled nappies for days on end, killing their dignity. Send ya loved ones elsewhere they deserve better than this for profit cash cow instutution.

Flaxmore provides excellent care of our mother. She is so happy there and the staff are so caring that she thinks she lives in a hotel! Flaxmore is not the newest care facility in town but what it lacks in flash furnishings is more than made up for by the personal care and respect provided by the staff and having had experience of both we are well qualified to compare. The grounds are beautifully kept and the meals nutritious. The recreation staff kept the residents well occupied and stimulated with a variety of crafts, events, celebrations and outings. We regularly receive photos of our mother enjoying an activity.
