Mexican restaurant

I love my Mexican food. I'll hit up a cantina EVEN when travelling in the UK, South Africa, or OZ to see what it's all about. I'm from California and have some amazing authentic Mexican food, and Agave has killer margaritas and some amazing steak fajitas. EASILY the best in NZ

What an absolute hidden gem!The food was delicious and the closest thing you are going to get to authentic Mexican food without getting on a flight yourself. This was such an amazing find and I will definitely be back for the tamales next time (Tlacoyo pictured here).However, the true star here is Silvia and her passion for authentic Mexican food. Her hospitality really makes you feel you are invited into the home of a Mexican Nanny (Nanita).Would rate 6/5 if google would let me.

This place is great. Stopped in on a whim since we were mixing Mexican food. I was very impressed with the Ceviche Taco - probably the single best taco I have ever had. They also served the food with a variety of hot sauces and the Kiwi Fruit hot sauce was spectacular. Also they have $6 beers on tap. Great place, great food, great service. I would definitely go back.

Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the vibe. Customer service was excellent. Food portions were very generous. Great value for money. Would easilyncome back again.

Really disappointing visit. Food was below average - minimal protein in the cantina bowl and served luke warm. Nachos were inedible and snack taco was tastelessness.

Nice food but didn't like the fact the birds flew in and started to eat off the main serving area. I saw this happen a lot whilst I was eating.

Went there for a birthday dinner yesterday, made a reservation in advance. Our waiter was lovely, very friendly and funny. The food was amazing, omg I can't wait to come back for more. However, there were a few slight issues - service was quite slow, it took a long time for us to be even able to place our order and the food takes a while to be cooked (promise it is worth the wait tho). The waiter we had seemed quite overwhelmed by how busy it was (which just made his friendly attitude even more impressive because i can imagine he was a bit stressed) perhaps a bit more staffing at front of house is needed. And also we had to wait a while to even get water for the table as they didn't have enough bottles chilled and ready. So close to 5 stars from me, really hope next time I come I catch it on a quiet day!

Went here for the first time. Had a fish taco and really enjoyed it. It was $7 per taco and 2 would have been better but 1 was ok if you were not that hungry. Husband ordered the mexican chicken burrito and it was good but it needed something...we couldnt put our finger in it but it needed some spice or something to make it exceptional. Saw the person before us order a salad and it looked delicious. We will give this place a try again because the fish taco was so delicious and the salad we want to try that. Burrito we will have to pass.

Ordered two of 7 layer mex burritos and chips and salsa for dinner through uber last night .Worst burrito ever , it was just filled with plain white rice ,no meat no flavour ,totally waste of money n they should learn how to make burrito and in the name of salsa it was just chopped onions .N chips were soggy n smelly ,it was not fresh at all .It says salsa n chips but in name of salsa it was just chopped onions on top of chips .If u guys dont know how to make salsa atleast google it .Shame on you guys.

We just arrived Christchurch for holiday and this is the first restaurant we went to. Great atmosphere and great staff! All of the food are delicious , especially the fish taco. Highly recommended!
