One of the nicest and almost magical places on the North Island

This is the best bargain in Queenstown - for just $9 you get a fast ferry ride out of Queenstown, around the point, then down the far end of the Frankton Arm to the Hilton. It's effectively subsidised public transport, but it's a great way to enjoy a cruise on the lake, and then a lovely walk back, for an absolute bargain.The trip leaves from just in front of the embarkation point for the steamer, is fast, fun and has great views of the town and then down the arm.Stop at the Hilton for lunch and get the next ferry back, or, do as we did and walk back - it's flat, has some lovely views, and the Boatshed Cafe at Frankton Marina makes a great half way stop for lunch.You can just turn up, but as numbers are limited, best to book, as they have no capacity to run extra services.And note, this is now a sperate service to Queenstown Water Taxis, which will do the same run for $50, but does have the advantage of being flexible with times and numbers, as it is a taxi, rather than ferry service.

The boat trip was great. Lunch was ok at the Cafe and the tour if the mansion house was great. Lady that greated us was superb. The only down side was the blonde female on the boat. Very un helpful when asked if we could get something to eat. guess she did not do customer service 101 Told phil she was busy he asked when he should come back her reply is I do not know Needless to say the boat lost a sale for food and drink

Happy with the service overall. We used the ferry to take our car both ways for a South island getaway trip. It was fairly straightforward to drive on and off, the timing was fairly quick once actually loading but expect a bit of a wait before they start the procedure. During the day sailing there was a kids magic show so it's very family friendly. They also had someone playing guitar in the bar area, the staff are quite friendly. The night time is more basic and they assume most people will just sleep, which was the case. You can tell it's not meant to be super fancy but at the same time they seem to create a bit of a relaxed laid back setting which is nice.

Ferry to Ulva Island from Golden Bay Wharf. You can buy tickets at the wharf and payment via Card available. They give you a leave that is used as a return ticket. The skipper is informative and even hands out a blanket if you are cold. They run a schedule service, so if you need more flexibility, then take a water taxi instead

A beautiful way to spend a day.I had taken this ferry return to take a day bike over at Days Bay, with the helpful and insightful staff aboard I had no problems on boarding. The licensed bar is also a extra plus!
