My normal residence is in Brisbane Australia and the call centre at HSBC New Zealand yes it runs 24 seven however I called today’s ago to make an appointment in the bank and I’ve heard nothing so I now literally flying to Auckland to see the bank

Only provide and efficient response whenyou remortgage woth them. Rest of the services is appalling. Having a so called designated premier services consultant is like having none because you get no response with the request and nothjng gets done.

Contacted them by phone and e-mail, got a response after 2 weeks. They emailed saying they would call me next day, did not happen. They have good mortgage rates, but very poor service

In general, HSBC is appalling. NZ seems slightly better than the rest of the world, in all fairness. Their PR team stepped in to help sort out a shameful issue caused by the global customer services team. That's not enough to earn the brand a rating of anything more than 'appalling'.

HSBC New Zealand is the worst bank in New Zealand, also the worst branch in HSBC globally. The 0800 number is directed to another country. But no one returned calls for issues. One telegraph transfer took over 20 days. The queen street branch manager put TT transactions for weeks and did not return calls and gave explanation. Terrible communication from this branch. I opened the account as good experience from Hong Kong HSBC. Get away from HSBC NZ. There are many local banks that have much better customer services for you.

Just hopeless. Asked a simple question and was transferred to an overseas call center. The staff member I spoke with had an impossibly broad Philippines accent . After continuously asking her to repeat herself I hung up as it was pointless continuing. Why not use local staff for local calls?

Went to branch on Level 21, great management of customers and differing queries, proactive.

Extremely rude and unhelpful staff at Auckland branch called Jinny Ang. We prepared forms and documents indicated by our account manager. Only left one item blank and all she said was “You have to fill this out yourself. We don’t do it for you.” Aren’t you being hired to be here to assist clients? Asked us to do this and that without saying please or thank you once. Very disappointed. Don’t ever bank with hsbc nz.

Banked with HSBC in Canada and now in NZ. Grateful they have a presence here, despite not having any branches in CHCH where we are. Our premier relationship manager has provided phenomenal service; accessible, responsive, knowledgeable, thorough. As we've just recently relocated our lives to the other side of the planet, we relied heavily on good support from our bank (moving money, currency exchange, home purchase, daily banking, savings).

My wife and I recently become customers and it's not bad. You effectively get a personal banker to deal with who's been pretty good. Where HSBC NZ lets itself down is with its ways to bank being very poor. Internet banking is very basic and doesn't have the sort of functionality that its local competitors have and the biggest shocker is they don't even have an app for mobile banking! If they want to survive, yet alone grow in NZ they're going to have to do much more.
