Fish and seafood restaurant

Battered Mussels the best we have had from a fish and chip shop. Fish was beautiful. Service quick and efficient. Thank you

I was looking forward to trying fnc from here after reading the reviews. The fish was tasty and fresh, however the Crumbed Fish was a wee bit burnt and soggy. About 5% of the chips were also dark brown due to being over cooked. Still in searching for the best fnc in town.

Beef filled was incredible, oyster was fantastic. Service was great, all the staff were very friendly and polite, a great experience. Only downer was the price, a bit expensive.. great for a special occasion

We were in Wellington for 2 nights and so far ortega was our best experience. Food and service was excellent. Highly recommend. Would love to dine in on our next visit. Well done team .

Although I gave 5 stars the hotdog was missing from the $20 pack- having said that, we didn't miss it as there was extra fish.... delicious, very fresh fish. Extremely good value for 20 bucks, we have a bunch of leftovers... donuts were pretty good too.Edit: the menu has changed! See the new picture

Fantastic food and good service - able to alter dishes to serve gluten free options. For a seafood restaurant the beef was incredible and cooked perfectly to order.

Honestly the best restaurant I've been to in a long time.Food is absolutely incredible - delicate flavours, beautiful presentation and the menu changes often.The service is impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who know their menu and wines.And the venue is beautifully decorated and perfectly lit.It's obviously a higher-end restaurant but frankly for the quality of experience it's really reasonablly priced. Book in!

In summary:Ortega offers a relaxed casual dining experience with playful service that lets its execution to do the talking.During the night I had a few different Negronis with various New Zealand gins. Understanding I was into my gin, Lucy brought over all the bottles so I could get a better feel for the native botanicals. Was an extra special touch that was greatly appreciated.The prawn tail tagliatelle was rich and creamy with exquisite prawn meat. Simple but absolutely delicious.The steak frites was wonderful. The cafe de Paris butter had layers of flavour that worked wonderfully.The gnocchi was had a complex array of flavours and textures. Great attention to detail.Both desserts were amazing and capped off what was the best dining experience we have had in the first few weeks travelling in NZ.Special mention to our waiter Lucy who was an absolute champion. She clearly loves working at Ortega and is a star.

Dined solo at Ortega last night and it was exceptional. One of my favorite meals in NZ so far! The atmosphere is inviting even sitting solo at a table. The staff were all warm and knowledgeable, they paired wine beautifully with my dishes, the food was excellent (oysters shucked perfectly, fish sandwich was another star dish). All around wonderful meal that I would highly recommend and hope one day I’ll travel back to revisit.
